Every year, I take a moment to shed light on women who have profoundly impacted my life—whether in my career, personal journey, spiritual growth, or emotional well-being. This year, in alignment with the International Women’s Daytheme, “Accelerate Action,” I want to recognize an incredible woman who embodies this spirit of urgency and change: Chloe Hanser.
Why Accelerate Action Matters
Gender equality continues to be a major barrier across many spheres of life. The call to “Accelerate Action” demands increased momentum and urgency in dismantling systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in their personal and professional spheres. Women should not have to wait for inclusion, equal pay, or leadership opportunities—we need to act now.
Meet Chloe Hanser
Chloe hails from Montana, a state known for its breathtaking yet rugged landscapes, an abundance of outdoor adventure, and, of course, the fun fact that there are more cows than people! If Montana had an official personality, it would be strong, resilient, and fiercely independent—just like Chloe. Much like the vast open plains of her home state, Chloe has a limitless drive and an unshakable spirit.
When I first joined Amazon, Chloe was the only woman Area Manager on our team. Now, being the only woman on a team can sometimes feel like being the only person for miles in the Montana wilderness—challenging, isolating, and demanding perseverance. But just like a true Montanan, Chloe didn’t just survive; she thrived.
Being the only woman in a team can often mean navigating feelings of isolation, pressure to represent all women, encountering microaggressions, and heightened awareness of gender dynamics. However, it also presents an opportunity to bring unique perspectives and be a force for change. Chloe chose the latter.
She brought energy and vibrance that set her apart. Her interactions with associates were remarkable—so much so that most associates sought her out when they needed help. Her ability to connect, empathize, and lead made her an anchor of support and inspiration.

Chloe is driven, focused, disciplined, and a multitasker, seamlessly balancing work and home life with both grit and grace. She embodies a unique blend of being both cutthroat and empathetic—an ability that many women master as they push for their worth while lifting others up.
I have watched her grow from tentative to confident, from quiet to a strong advocate. Her presence has added depth to discussions, her insights have improved our strategies, and her resilience has inspired many of us. She has set new standards, broken ceilings, and pushed boundaries with unwavering determination.
If you don’t have women on your team, you’re missing out on: Growth, Profit, Skills, Professionalism, And let’s be honest—a way more fun work environment! (Male colleagues, no offense; your time in the spotlight will come soon!)
Lessons Learned from Chloe
Here are some of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned from working with Chloe:
- Active Listening
Chloe listens more than she speaks. Whenever you see her with a colleague or associate, she is fully engaged, making the other person feel heard. Seeing her in action challenged me to develop my own listening skills. I’m still a work in progress, but I now understand that active listening fosters trust, respect, and stronger teamwork. - Self-Awareness
Chloe taught me the difference between disagreeing with someone and having a negative attitude. Many people still struggle with this. A negative attitude often invites unnecessary conflict, while disagreement—when done right—leads to growth and innovation. Chloe modeled the importance of diplomatic communication and the ability to challenge perspectives while maintaining respect. - Motivating Others
Chloe understands that leadership isn’t just about directing—it’s about inspiring. She knows how to bring out the best in people, even when they doubt themselves. She empowers those around her and makes them believe in their capabilities. - Empathy Over Commanding
Instead of barking orders, Chloe leads with understanding. She gets to the root of problems by asking questions and putting herself in the shoes of others. This has made her one of the most trusted leaders among associates. - Being Humble
Despite her achievements, Chloe remains humble and approachable. She doesn’t seek credit but ensures the team shines. She leads with humility, knowing that true leadership is about lifting others. - Knowing Your Value
Chloe has taught me that knowing your worth is not about arrogance; it’s about recognizing your contributions and standing firm in your value. I’ve watched her navigate difficult conversations and assert herself in spaces where women are often overlooked. Her confidence has inspired me to step up, speak up, and advocate for my own worth.
Creating Workplaces That Accelerate Action
Workplaces that prioritize equality and well-being create environments where everyone feels valued and included, regardless of gender, race, sexuality, age, religion, or background. I am grateful to work alongside individuals like Chloe who are committed to making a difference, challenging norms, and paving the way for future generations of women in leadership.
I will continue learning from, being inspired by, and investing in women like Chloe. On this International Women’s Day, let’s all commit to taking action, challenging biases, and accelerating the path toward gender equality.
Join me in celebrating Chloe and all the incredible women who are making workplaces better, stronger, and more inclusive. Happy International Women’s Day!
